(Katherine) It took us all day to pack up our belongings after getting settled into our apartment for a month, however, I had an extremely important agenda for that evening – getting a haircut. I have been faithful to my hairdresser (George) for 10 years, so it felt quite scandalous trying to find (gasp!) another hairdresser. I had done quite a bit of research on the web and found a forum which recommended a place called Glam. When I showed for my appointment, the fellow who was supposed to cut my hair (and was some-what English speaking) wasn't there, but they told me I could wait for Jorge. I was apprehensive at first, but when I met him I got a great vibe and decided to stick it out – plus it meant I wasn't really cheating on my George since I was seeing the Spanish version, Jorge! I'm very glad that I had written down my instructions for my haircut in Spanish since our communication skills were both quite limited in the other language. Granted, my hair and layers turned out a bit shorter than I intended, I think I needed it since my hair was so damaged, and I am growing to like the new look. For any BA travelers reading this blog, use this hyperlink that I have includeded for Glam since I found it impossible to find them on a Google search – they are in Recoleta at Quintana 218.
After my appointment, I headed home to get ready for our last romantic dinner in BA together. Our plan was to go to a restaurant recommended by our landlord, but upon learning that it was about 45 minutes outside of the city, we decided to head to Palermo instead, the first neighborhood we dined in when we arrived to BA. Even more ironic, we decided to head to the restaurant that we could not find on our first trip, which seemed a fitting way to end our journey. Dominga has a unique offering of sushi and steak – kind of a high end surf and turf menu. We enjoyed two of the most delicious rolls as starters, and then we both had the steak (the only steak offering on the menu, which makes it simple.) We also sat on the covered patio right by a fountain, which only added to the charm. Our server was charming and the food was terrific – it was a perfect way to conclude the chapter of our Buenos Aires experience!
